Comment on Eric's new MV, Astronaut
Analyze Eriiiiic's MV? I think it's absolutely insulting to him — it's so sloppy and half-assed that it's outrageous.
The opening.
It's the first time I've ever seen a production company logo and “presents” separated like that.
And the font choice is way too cartoonish — completely breaks the tone.
The font in the "imessage" section is incorrect; it's clearly AI-generated.
There is no storyboard.
Any properly directed 3D animation must start with storyboards and an animatic before moving into shot design.
But this animation clearly has no storyboard at all. Everything feels like they just dumped pre-existing camera paths onto assets. Utterly perfunctory.
The transitions are chaotic — not designed for the music or emotional flow, just padding to fill runtime.
Image quality.
First, the character model is stiff, and even the earring placement is wrong.
This shows the workflow wasn't taken seriously. A real 3D avatar based on a real person requires references, turnarounds, repeated revisions. The fact that they messed up Eriiiiic's most iconic detail — his earring — means they didn't look at references, didn't check anything, just wanted to hand something in.
And what I find the most intolerable:
I'm convinced this animation is basically AI-generated. The amount of actual hand-crafted work from the studio is probably under 5%. Absolutely.
The visuals are stiff, especially in the shots containing Eriiiiic, and the environment as well. This is 100% not something crafted manually.
There's even a shot where Eriiiiic is lying on the ground but he looks like he's floating.
The most fundamental flaw of AI is exposed here: many shots look "kind of like" Eriiiiic, but definitely aren't him.
I think this company never treated him like a legendary musician at all — just as an ordinary B2B client.
They didn't respect him whatsoever.
And the price they charged was probably not even low.
The art world really is full of all kinds of charlatans.
What really disappoints me is that Eriiiiic was treated as a client they could brush off with something cheap and sloppy, instead of as a musician — an artist whose dignity should be respected.
When I start my own animation studio in the future, I will reshoot the MV for Eriiiiic.
